It has no impact on the sensors there (I have a GT). It's practically invisible to me unless I move my head around to see behind my mirror. To the OP, I put my transponder right behind the mirror. If you go into the HOT lanes without a transponder, you will get a ticket.even if you had multiple people in your car. My transponder has a switch on it that allows me to set the number of occupants in my car and therefore it doesn't charge me when set to 2 or 3 in a HOT lane. We keep our tag in a mylar bag in the glove box.Īt least in LA, you have to have a transponder to use some of the HOT (high occupancy toll) lanes (toll for single occupant, free for 2+) such as the 110. If the tag was always mounted it would automatically get charged on those lanes regardless if there are 2 or more people in the car. There are toll lanes in California that are free if there are 2 or more people in the car but drivers without passengers can pay extra to be in the HOV lane. Then we simply put it up on the dash when it's needed and take it down when it's not needed. We rarely need it, but when we know we'll likely be accessing a California toll road, we put the tag in the car we'll be taking. We have only a single FasTrak toll tag for both cars. You can always install where you want you tag to be and test it at most of the EZ tag office locations as they have a "test" lane in the parking lot to determine if their equipment can read the tag. They will just bill by plate at that point, the"box" did work on the "gate" tyle systems. Ultimately as long as you aren't stuck at one of the eztag gates it's really a non issue if you LP and vehicle description is correct. They are encased in hard plastic and easy to stow. I updated the hctra website for that tag to reflect the correct vehicle and never had a problem with his car over a couple of years of use. And just had him throw it on the dash when he was coming home. When my son was at A&m I gave him my motorcycle "tag". Unfortunately in Houston, you can't get anywhere without the toll roads. My local toll authority says to place in front of the rear view mirror, but I am concerned about affecting the light sensor in the rear view mirror after reading the owner's manual. I will try calling tomorrow but have not had much luck getting through in the past.I have '16 GT, my first MX-5, and curious where everyone places their toll tags that adhere to the windshield. If you feel that your windshield mounted EZ TAG is not working properly, please contact EZ TAG Customer Service at (281) 875-EASY (3279) to speak with a representative about your specific tag needs.) (*Note: This list may not be inclusive of all vehicles that can not use a sticker tag. The following vehicles have a limited amount of space for a windshield mounted EZ TAG and might require a license plate mounted tag: Vehicles known to require license plate mounted tags instead of regular sticker (or windshield) EZ TAGs are: NTTA, Texas Toll Tag, said for Subaru with Eyesight, mount at any of the four corners of.
